Improving access to embedded systems security with the ERIC laboratory and BPI France
The Embedded Kit and ERIC Laboratory have secured a funding as part of France’s National Cybersecurity Strategy 2030 (via BPI France). This initiative aims to enhance the security of embedded systems for equipment manufacturers by 2026.
Securing IoT through Machine Learning algorithms
Our approach involves collaborating with the ERIC laboratory to develop a Machine Learning algorithm, ensuring robust security for IoT solutions throughout their entire lifecycle.
Respecting OEM intellectual property
We deliver the source code for our software products and the results of our research findings, empowering OEMs to maintain control over their embedded systems.
Providing a comprehensive off-the-shelf software suite
Our aim is to simplify IoT for equipment manufacturers. To achieve this, we are developing a turnkey, high-performance, and secure development environment for IoT and embedded devices.
The story behind our collaboration for embedded systems security
Many SMEs and mid-sized companies aim to develop IoT solutions to modernize, innovate, and stay competitive. However, these organizations often lack the internal resources and expertise to achieve this independently, let alone secure them. With the upcoming regulations and the increasing number of cyber risks, they require software products to assist them.
This is why The Embedded Kit, in collaboration with the ERIC laboratory and BPI France, has come together to propose a specific secure software ecosystem.
Discover the partners
Get to know each of the partners in this three-way collaboration: BPI France, the ERIC laboratory, and The Embedded Kit.
BPI France
Bpifrance finances and supports organizations at every stage of their development through credit, guarantees, innovation assistance, and equity. In doing so, BPI France aligns with the public policies led by the French state and regions.
ERIC laboratory
Established in 1995, the ERIC laboratory (Research Unit of Lyon 2 and Lyon 1 Universities) conducts theoretical and applied research in the fields of data science and business intelligence. The research aims to enhance the value of large and complex databases, particularly in the areas of literature, languages, humanities, and social sciences.
The Embedded Kit
The Embedded Kit offers the comprehensive software toolkit that equipment manufacturers need to build, connect, test, and secure custom embedded Linux systems, in-house. The Embedded Kit tooling ecosystem comprises four off-the-shelf, customizable, and vendor-lock-free software products: a Yocto-based Linux distribution & DevOps platform, an IoT device management platform, an automatic embedded testing tool, and a software composition analysis (SCA) and vulnerability monitoring tool.
As a Witekio company, The Embedded Kit encapsulates over two decades of experience supporting device makers, empowering them in the development and maintenance of industrial-grade and secure systems.
